RPDU EP40000

Redundant Power Distribution Unit (RPDU)
The RPDU is a rugged electronics unit that performs power distribution. Power can be provided from a regulated facility or ground supply, a battery, or both. That power is routed through 20 outputs that can be switched and configured to meet the varying needs of different kinds of loads.

The RPDU optimizes Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP), for use in the most constrained applications. The unit will meet ground, maritime, aircraft, launch vehicle, and space vehicle environments.

The RPDU is designed to meet high reliability applications where unit failure cannot be tolerated. The unit can be used in a single-string system, or with multiple units in a redundant, fully fault-tolerant configuration.

Since end item loads have different needs and requirements, outputs can be automatically configured to meet the needs of each load. Switch in or out diodes and fuses by sending a command. Outputs can also accommodate inductive loads. Default output configurations can be programmed into the unit so it powers up in the right state, often saving the need for separate one-off power lines for special loads.

Another important feature of the RPDU is scalability. For small systems a single unit has more than enough outputs to accommodate all of the loads. For larger systems that have more loads, or systems with a distributed architecture, multiple RPDUs can be used in parallel. The RPDU can also supplement the capabilities of an existing power system to accommodate one-time or limited use applications that have more loads than the existing system can accommodate.

Key measurements like output currents, switch states, and unit temperature are provided in status. This allows the main computer or person controlling to monitor system responses and ensure everything is working correctly.
